Welcome to my website hosted by www.textilearts.net. I am a textile mixed media artist living in Maidstone, Kent, and working both locally and internationally. The site is intended to give you a general overview of my current work and practice but feel free to contact me if you have any further questions. I make works both for commission and for public settings, freehanging mixed media textiles as well as smaller pieces which work well in a variety of settings, both traditional and contemporary. I am happy to work with found materials as part of the process of making which may have significance to the commissioning person or project.

My work relates to the natural and built world around us and the elements that make it up. I like to use found materials as part of this process and am always looking at the environmental links and sustainable practice. This year I am collaborating on several projects including work with another artist, Anne Kelly, as a means to develop my studio practice and produce new work using a range of themes. This work is touring in an exhibition Natural Histories from November 2009. As part of my practice I work in the public context, teaching, consultancy work, commissions and workshop based projects.
In addition to exhibiting I have been commissioned to write a book for Batsford publications, The Found Object in Embroidery and Textile Art. This is due out in the Autumn of 2010. |
